She is part Blackfoot Cherokee. The first time she appeared on screen was 2005's short film Liminality. In 2005 she made her debut appearance on the big screens in the critically acclaimed comedy Transamerica. In the same season, she also made her TV debut on a fourth season episode in the show Law & Order Criminal Intent. The actress joined the Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise in 2014 under the name Nadia Decotis, Chicago P.D. . In 2015, she returned to her role as the main character for the role of lead Law & Order Special Victims Unit the show of Wolf's television series. The year before was when she played Julia Wicker in Syfy's fantasy series The Magicians. Stella Maeve continued acting in independent films, while establishing herself as a TV actor.
